This knife was created for a friend who wanted to own one of my knives, and it gave me the opportunity to explore a more refined and formal design than many of my earlier builds. I envisioned something that would feel at home alongside a tailored suit—a gentleman's knife that emphasized elegance, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

To achieve that look, I incorporated a segmented handle featuring water buffalo horn and Tru-Stone, creating a sophisticated combination of natural and engineered materials. At this stage in my knifemaking journey, I was also beginning to appreciate the importance of hand sanding and handle contouring. While those details can be time-consuming, they dramatically improve both the appearance and feel of a finished knife, and this project helped reinforce their value.

The knife also became an opportunity to experiment with higher-end sheath work. Drawing inspiration from custom leather designs, I created not one but two sheaths for the project—one featuring a stingray skin inlay and another using ostrich leather. Both complemented the formal character of the knife while allowing me to explore new materials and construction techniques.

Looking back, this build marked an important step toward the style of knives I enjoy creating today. It combined premium materials, improved finishing techniques, and a stronger focus on aesthetics, resulting in a knife that felt more refined, intentional, and complete than many of my earlier projects.
